What To Do
If you worry YOU could be detained or arrested by ICE…
- Fill out the ICE Privacy Waiver to share information with our office.
- The "Privacy Waiver Authorizing Disclosure to a Third Party" allows our office to be able to communicate with ICE on the detained individual's behalf. If a person has already been detained, it can be difficult to get the release form completed and signed.
- Without this signed form, ICE WILL NOT provide our office with detailed case-related answers.
- You can find copies of the form in Arabic, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, and Turkish here.
- Make a Family Emergency Plan (see above)
- Make a childcare plan
- Keep an emergency binder of all of your documents
If SOMEONE YOU KNOW is detained…
- Get their Alien Registration Number/A number (If they have had an application already they will already have this number otherwise it will be given to them upon arrest).
- Begins with the letter A and is usually followed by 9 digits
- Using their A number, you should be able to locate your loved one here: https://locator.ice.gov/odls/#/search
- Write down as much information you can recall about the arrest ASAP, if you were present.
Include any names, badge numbers, car details, and if they tell you where they are taking your loved one.- If you see or want to verify ICE activity, you can call ICIRR's 24/7 hotline 1-855-435-7693.
- For information on an immigration court hearing, enter their A number at https://acis.eoir.justice.gov/en/ or call 1-800-898-7180.
