Committees and Caucuses

House Appropriations Committee

As a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, I am using my position to prioritize investments in innovation and Chicagoland infrastructure, which will grow the local economy and spur job creation. I'm also fighting to protect funding for vital housing and social services programs and am a leading voice for smarter defense spending and nuclear reduction. I currently serve on the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), the Subcommittee on National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs, and the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

This Congress, I also returned to the influential House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which I served on from 2015 to 2022. This committee has provided me with a unique understanding of the national security threats we face as a nation and has supported my work as Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. Following the invasion of Russia by Ukraine, I have continued to advocate for Ukraine to my colleagues and the world on how the United States can help in this fight.

My past work on this committee also put me at the center of the years-long Russia investigation and the first impeachment of Donald Trump.

I previously served on the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where I was the Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on TARP, Financial Services, and Bailouts of Public and Private Programs. I was also proud to serve as the Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government and the Ranking Member of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee.
