Quigley Statement on Reconciliation Negotiations

October 1, 2021

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, released the following statement in response to ongoing negotiations between the House and Senate:

"While I am disappointed that Congress was unable to reach an agreement for the American people today, I remain confident that Democrats will ultimately pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill and reconciliation legislation that delivers on President Biden's promises to the American people to increase access to healthcare, improve economic opportunities for families, and address the climate crisis. Despite the popular narrative from many in the DC media, these negotiations are the normal workings of Congress. It may seem unfamiliar, but I welcome a negotiation process that will ultimately lead us to the best possible legislative package for the nation, regardless of the specific day it passes. Ultimately, I believe that our caucus will reach an agreement that will benefit every American."
