Quigley Statement on Failure of Senate to Repeal ACA

July 28, 2017

"Over the past several months, the American people made their voices heard loud and clear. Last night, three Republican Senators and forty-eight Democratic Senators listened. Millions of families woke up this morning and breathed a sigh of relief knowing their health care was saved from partisan attacks set to strip coverage and drive up costs. Last night's failure of the ‘skinny repeal' bill is without-a-doubt worth celebrating, but we are not out of the woods yet. Much more work remains to defend and expand access to quality, affordable care.

"The Affordable Care Act is working; comparing where we were seven years ago to where we are today proves that. Now it's time to work together to make it better. When Congress returns to session in September, I will continue my efforts to improve—not dismantle—this life-saving law through productive, bipartisan conversation and compromise."
