HOST: The White House rejected Congress’ demands to further investigate President Trump over possible obstruction of justice. The White House sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, rejecting his request for a wide range of documents related to the Russia investigation. White House counsel is accusing Congress of pursuing an unauthorized do-over of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe in an effort to harass the President. During “Politics Tonight” here on CLTV, Congressman Mike Quigley talked about the fight over those documents.

QUIGLEY (clip): We’ve been told that you’re not going to be able to get all of these documents unless there is an impeachment proceeding. I like to think that a court would see through that and understand that, in expedited fashion, we can’t possibly know whether an impeachment is appropriate if we don’t have the full body of information.

NADLER (clip): This is the White House claiming that the President is a king.
