Catching Up With Quigley: Week of May 19
Dear Friend,
This was a frustrating week in Washington, D.C., but I want you to know that I'll never stop fighting to protect Medicaid and access to healthcare.
1. Voted Against Republican Cuts to Medicaid

Early Thursday morning, Republicans pushed through their devastating budget bill. If this bill becomes law, 8.6 million people will lose healthcare coverage under Medicaid and 7.4 million will lose coverage through the Affordable Care Act. Not to mention, the $3 trillion it would add to our nation's debt.
Democrats spent all night on Wednesday, from 11 pm until 5:30 am using every tool at our disposal to block this unacceptable legislation. I proudly voted no and while I was disappointed the bill still passed, I'm not giving up the fight.
2. Held Two Town Halls

This week, I held two town halls. On Tuesday, I hosted a virtual town hall with Vaishu Jawahar, Deputy Director of Policy Programs at Protect Our Care, and Michael Linden, Campaign Director of Families Over Billionaires. We discussed all the different ways the Trump-Republican budget will harm American families.
And on Friday morning, I held a town hall at Center on Halsted with Lambda Legal to talk about the Trump administration's relentless attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community.

3. Interrogated Marco Rubio on Ukraine

During a House Appropriations Committee Hearing, I questioned Secretary Marco Rubio on Russia's war on Ukraine and if Trump will ever hold Putin accountable. Trump and Rubio have completely abandoned our allies, and Rubio has turned his back on everything he once claimed to believe. It's shameful.
You can watch my full exchange with Rubio HERE.
