March 23, 2026

Today, Chicago Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on Trump’s deployment of ICE agents to O’Hare International Airport, amidst Republican refusals to fund TSA:

“I don’t trust ICE in our airports any more than I did on the streets of Chicago. They do not have the training to perform TSA’s functions, and they are far more likely to cause fear than to reassure travelers of their safety. This decision does nothing to allay flyers' security concerns or reduce airport waiting times.

Today, Chicago Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) announced that he secured $17,816,80 for his constituents and the greater city of Chicago through Community Project Funding for Fiscal Year 2026. Quigley successfully advocated for all 15 of his funding requests to be included in the final government funding legislation, which has now been signed into law.

Today, Chicago Congressman and former defense attorney Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on DHS’s killing of Alex Pretti and called for the dismantling of ICE in its current form:

“The murder of VA nurse Alex Pretti has shocked and horrified all Americans. It is now abundantly clear that, under Trump, ICE and CBP cannot function as intended. ICE has been co-opted by Trump into a secret police bent on frightening, intimidating, and harming Americans. As the saying goes, the fish rots from the head.

The PROTECT Immigration Act would rescind the statutory authority for the federal government's 287(g) Program, which allows the Department of Homeland Security to enter into agreements with state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration law.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) reintroduced the Trafficking Reduction and Criminal Enforcement (TRACE) Act, to help the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reduce illegal firearms trafficking and make it harder for criminals to obtain deadly weapons.


Our nation is enduring a gun violence epidemic. Sadly, the tragedy of gun violence in America is compounded by another tragedy in Congress: the tragedy of inaction. That’s why I refuse to standby idly while thousands of Americans die each year due to gun violence.
